How Doth the Little Busy Bee

"Then Alice began looking about, and noticed that what could be seen from the old room was quite common and uninteresting, but that all the rest was as different as possible. For instance, the pictures on the wall next the fire seemed to be all alive, and the very clock on the chimney-piece (you know you can only see the back of it in the Looking-glass) had got the face of a little old man, and grinned at her."

Although life is completely different than it was before having kids, are there days when I feel the similarities? Physically, yes. Financially, no.

Today was like a Sunday double shift with a neverending rush. Every table was demanding, rude, unappreciative, never said 'please' or 'thank you' and not one gave me a tip. They ran my butt off so I could not attend to my other demanding tables, causing the rest of my station to also be mad at me. They all told me they hated me, punched and/or groped me, yelled at me, and yet as a manager, I had to keep my cool. I had fights to break up, belligerent people to cut off, food fights, never had a break, and only shoved food in my face while taking care of my crazy tables. At the end of my shift, I have no money, I'm completely wiped out, smelly, dirty, my back hurts, and I can't even afford to have a drink.

The only difference is now my customers never go home. I'll serve the exact same people again in the morning (and throughout the night), there's no cleaning crew, I'll never have a day off, I'll never have a paycheck, and yet I still love my job and those a-hole customers. Bring it, tomorrow. I'm crazy and I'm ready for you.
